COVID-19 Patient Attendance Procedure

We hope the following information will help prepare you, but most importantly reassure you that we have worked hard to ensure LCD is a safe environment for both our patients and our staff.

We are following government guidance and have taken advice from our professional dental bodies which have led to the amendments of LCD’s ‘Standard Operating Procedures’ so that we can safely provide your care. We have to control the environment in which we create an aerosol (most types of dental treatment create an aerosol). We will adhere to social distancing measures and where this is not possible, we will wear the necessary PPE in or order to work safely.

We politely request that you wear a face covering when attending the practice to be used in communal areas.

The New Patient Journey: Examinations, Assessments and Hygiene

When you attend for your appointment, please wait in your car. Please send a text message to 07432 660408 containing your name and make/model of your car to let us know you have arrived. A member of staff will come and collect you from the car park when we are ready for your appointment. You will also be asked a few questions regarding your COVID19 status. If you cannot attend by car, we politely ask that you wait in the garden by the front door and follow the same protocol.

When you enter the building, you will be asked to apply some alcohol gel. You will be escorted straight into the surgery for your appointment. We ask that you restrict the items that you bring into the practice (eg coats, scarves, bags).

Once your treatment is completed, you will be asked to go into the Reception area. Please follow the signage and wait at the 2m mark in front of Reception. If there is already someone at Reception, we ask that you respect social distancing guidelines and take a seat in the chair provided.

Our Receptionist will make you any further appointments and answer any questions you may have. They will then ask you to approach the desk to take payment. Where possible, we would be most grateful for card payments. We will be disinfecting our card machine after every use. Your treatment plan will be emailed to you the following day.

Please also note:

  • The toilet will be available upon request. This is to ensure we maintain our new cleaning protocols.

  • Please do not bring anyone else to your appointments. This is to ensure we limit the number of people  in the building at any one time. If you feel that you cannot attend your appointment alone, please contact us in advance of your appointment to discuss this.

  • Parents: We request that you only bring children with you who have an appointment at the practice.

These measures are to keep both our patients and staff safe.

Hygiene Appointments

Due to restrictions around creating aerosols, for the time being we are unable to offer ultrasonic scaling in your hygiene appointment. All hygiene appointments will be hand scaling only, no polishing with an emphasis on oral hygiene instruction. Your dentist will discuss these options with you. If you are having treatment with a dentist, the dentist will be able to offer you an ultrasonic scale in this appointment.

Once again, thank you for your patience. We are really looking forward to seeing you and being able to continue your care.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Please call 01844 208833 and we will be happy to help.
